Unfortunately, I recently lost the stolenpixel.com website including all photographs and comments. This was one of a few images that I was able to find and restore to the site.

I am lucky enough to work at an institution that is located on a wildlife reserve. Consequently, we have many Kangaroo’s hopping around the place and here is a portrait of one that greeted me as I left work one night last year. Incredibly placid due to its age, I could take this shot from about 1 foot away in distance. However, I would never recommend approaching kangaroo’s, particularly the dominant male in the pack. They are fast, strong and have incredibly sharp claws that can disembowel a human like a knife through hot butter.
Future shots like this will probably be done through a lens change – once I have more sophisticated equipment to work with.
