Sippy Downs Fire
EXIF Data

FOCAL LENGTH: 5.8 mm
APERTURE: f/2.8
SHUTTER: 1/2 sec
ISO: N/A

A shot of the fire that swept through Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast on the weekend. The cause is as yet unknown, this shot was taken from the front yard of a house as the fire moved away from it. A lot of worried people were a two lane road away from losing their properties at one point.

Luckily no one was lost in the blaze.

Recently I travelled through the Jenolan Caves in NSW, I took a WORLD of photos while I was there and no doubt heaps will show up on this site… But, to avoid overload, I’ll follow a trickle out approach.

I’ve done minimal tweaking to these… essentially a bit of a sharpen (found it hard to take non-flash pics with a steady hand!), and a curves adjustment to try and capture the sharp contrasts a little more realistically.

If you’re ever in the area, it’s worth 25 odd dollars to go and check out some seriously interesting underground networks… http://www.jenolancaves.org.au/

FOCAL LENGTH: 7.109 mm
APERTURE: f/6.3
SHUTTER: 1/1500 sec

This photo was, like some of the other recent photos on SP, taken at Port Douglas. It captures some of the dramatic sky that loomed in the distance as a storm rolled into town.

Appropriate really.. This weekend, I hope the Melbourne Storm rolls out the title of 2007 premiers.

*edit: and they did!

I recently was lucky enough to travel to Port Douglas and was able to take a couple of nice shots while I was there.. so there will be more to come over the next few days. This is a shot taken at ground level, experimenting with depth of field.

All the little balls are the work of the Ghost Crabs that inhabited the beach – a macro of them to come…
