I was taught that these were called “Willy Willy’s”… in that they are like a four hundredths of five eights of 6 tenths of a tornado. Basically a swirling wind… but this one did look pretty swirling away on the sand dune. Of course, I missed the really good shot… while I was fumbling for the camera and caught it as it was dying off…

This shot is taken from a sand dune on the Gold Coast, Australia.. it was an experiment in depth of field.
